The Coburg State Archive is the Bavarian State Archive responsible for the independent city and the district of Coburg . It covers the area of ​​the then Free State of Coburg, which was united with Bavaria in 1920 . The state archive is now housed in the former armory at Herrngasse 11.

location

The Coburg State Archive, housed in Ehrenburg Palace until 1988 , is now located in the former armory in Coburg's old town, Herrngasse 11 between Markt and Schlossplatz. The building extends from Herrngasse along Theatergasse to Große Johannisgasse.

The historic district extends considerably into the southern Thuringian area, includes the Königsberg office (1879–1920 part of the Coburg district) and, for the period from 1816 to 1834, the area of ​​the Lichtenberg principality on the left bank of the Rhine (today the St. Wendel and Kusel districts ).

The volume is around 3,410 running meters with around 333,825 archive units.
