Altenböddeken State Forest

The state forest Altenböddeken was a state forest near the place Altenböddeken in the Paderborn district , North Rhine-Westphalia. In total it had an area of ​​1,400 hectares . Of this, 400 ha were in the Bad Wünnenberg community and 1000 ha in the urban area of Büren (Westphalia) .

Around 44.68 hectares of the forest were classified as so-called non - commercial forests . These areas were divided into 4 natural forest cells . 54% of the total area was accounted for by the beech , 33% by the spruce , 4% by the oak and 9% by other tree species found in the forest area. Around 12,000 cubic meters of wood are felled each year . In the early 19th century, parts of the southeastern area were afforested with spruce trees. This is not at home on the Paderborn plateau , but it spread rapidly.

Severe damage was caused by Hurricane Kyrill in January 2007 . Today the state forest belongs to the Ringelstein forestry district in Büren .
