State Prize for Improvised Music

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The State Prize for Improvised Music was a music prize that has been awarded every four years since 1996 as the Prize of the Republic of Austria to an Austrian jazz musician for his life's work.

The prize was last (2008) endowed with 11,000 euros, sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture and was awarded as the "Austrian State Prize" category within the framework of the Hans Koller Prize . Hans Koller himself was the first to receive the State Prize . As the financing of the Hans Koller Prize no longer appeared secure from 2009, the activities of the award-organizing committee were stopped in April 2010.
