The Stade National El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon is a multi-purpose stadium built in 1993 in the Djiboutian capital, Djibouti . There is an artificial turf pitch , a running track and three sports halls for martial arts and table tennis. The stadium offers space for 10,000 spectators on two grandstands. The games of the national soccer team , the first soccer league and the soccer cup of the country as well as the national athletics competitions are played here.

history

The stadium, which was built by the People's Republic of China , was opened on June 26, 1993 by then President Hassan Gouled Aptidon , after whom it is also named. The first official international match in the stadium took place on April 7, 2000. Djibouti met the DR Congo in a qualifier for the 2002 World Cup and scored 1-1.

Artificial turf was laid in 2002 and the covering was replaced in 2007. The FIFA took over the project "Goal" in the work. After graduation, the first international match against Somalia took place on November 16, 2007 at the new square.

A half marathon is held annually in the stadium .

The sports complex is administered by the public service institution “Stade El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon”, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sport.
