City of Fear: New York against the mafia (original title: Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia ) is a three-part American Crime - documentary series of the streaming service Netflix about the power of the American Cosa Nostra during the 1970s and 1980s as well as the investigations by the authorities that ultimately led to the infamous " Mafia Commission Trial ".

content

The documentary series covers the structure, power and control of the so-called Five Families - Bonanno , Colombo , Gambino , Genovese and Lucchese - from the American Cosa Nostra to various branches of industry and legitimate companies in New York State during the 1970s and 1980s, as well as surveillance - and wiretapping methods used by the FBI to set up an indictment under the " RICO Act " against the bosses of those "families" who make up the majority of the governing body, called the Commission , of the American Cosa Nostra. The focus of the surveillance is on Angelo Ruggiero and “Big Paul” Castellano of the Gambinos, Ralph “Little Ralphie” Scopo and Gennaro “Gerry Lang” Langella of the Colombo, Anthony “Tony Ducks” Corallo and Salvatore “Sal” Avellino of the Luccheses, Anthony "Fat Tony" Salerno of the Genoveses and Anthony "Bruno" Indelicato of the Bonannos after his involvement in the murder of his incumbent boss Carmine "Lilo" Galante . That observation by the FBI led to the so-called " Mafia Commission Trial " by the Federal Public Prosecutor Rudolph Giuliani in the mid-1980s .
