The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) is the chief US representative in federal criminal and civil proceedings in eight New York counties: King ( Manhattan ), Bronx , Westchester , Putnam , Rockland , Orange , Dutchess and Sullivan . The prosecution-led cases will be tried in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York .
structure
The public prosecutor's office is divided into sections for civil and criminal matters. It has two departments; one is in Manhattan and the other is in White Plains . The United States Attorney is assisted by approximately 220 Assistant United States Attorneys.
