history

1997: first internet course in the city library

The Freiberg City Library was opened on June 3, 1976 as a result of the merger of the former Beihingen, Heutingsheim and Geisingen district libraries. The first manager was Gerdi Eberhard. The library found its place in the newly created center of Freiberg. In order to be able to support the future Oscar Paret School with literature, the library was housed in its building, with a separate entrance.

In 1997 the first internet course took place in the Freiberg City Library. The library has had its own website since 1998. Since 2000 the library catalog can also be accessed in this way. Today it is possible to surf the Internet at seven screen places over a broadband line. A color printer is connected to all seats and a USB 2.0 port is available.
