City Gallery Mannheim
The Stadtgalerie Mannheim is an institution for contemporary art in Mannheim that has been showing regular exhibitions since May 2011. The city of Mannheim is responsible for this. The curator is Benedikt Stegmayer .
Emergence
The gallery was originally intended as a temporary solution, as a new building is currently being built in the Jungbusch district , which is to contain a privately operated gallery that will replace the Mannheim City Gallery from the beginning of 2015 and continue its content program. The replacement of the current city gallery has been the subject of very controversial discussion in the regional media and among artists since 2013, as the current model has proven to be very successful. The continuation of the gallery at its current location beyond 2014 is currently being discussed in Mannheim.

The Stadtgalerie Mannheim shows solo and group exhibitions with a regional focus. An essential approach here is to place the most important artists from Mannheim and the surrounding area in a national and international context.
