Schrat works with various forms of visual storytelling. He draws on popular stories from fairy tales to Starship Enterprise in order to use them as metaphors for contemporary issues. This results in complex and ambiguous narratives that like to be humorous, but can become snappy at second glance. Schrat has shown particular interest in economic contexts, which he understands as cultural material that the artist has to transform in order not to take on the role of a victim of capitalism.
