Norbert Nüssle (born June 23, 1932 in Heidelberg ; † March 2, 2012 in Mannheim ) was a German artist .

Life

Nüssle grew up in Mannheim . 1951 to 1956 he studied Romance languages at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , as well as in Paris and Lille . Since 1963 he lived in Mannheim.

His first exhibition took place in 1961 at the Gurlitt Gallery in Munich. Since 1970 he has found his main theme in Urban Landscapes : Most of his collages are multi-layered depictions of plaza and street situations in Brittany and (also) Mannheim. These representations have always been deserted, at least since the late 1970s. In addition, his work also deals with interiors.

In addition to cardboard as a basis and a "primer" of acrylic paint, numerous found objects serve as materials in the collages, from the depicted place from sand to advertising to discarded candy wrappers and often Polaroids that were created on site. As a collagist who works with "objets trouvés" (for example: found objects), he is unique in the art scene. His collages are not, as usual, abstract compositions, but are "critical reflections on reality" (Klaus Colberg, catalog text).

For Norbert Nüssle, Brittany had become a second home; many of his works were created there and accordingly depict this area. The love for this landscape is also reflected in the fact that he was sometimes better known in Brittany than in his home town of Mannheim; for example, Nüssle is mentioned in usual art and tourist guides to Brittany.

Norbert Nüssle was a member of the Künstlerbund Rhein-Neckar , Künstlerbund Baden-Württemberg and the Deutscher Künstlerbund .

Norbert Nüssle always signed his work with NoNü .
