history

The building was built in 1826 as the “Zum Roten Hirsch” inn by the Count of Wallwitz. 17 years later the count sold his property to Viktor Alex. Rudolph. In the years that followed, the inn was run by several owners until the "Hotel zum Hirsch Aktiengesellschaft" was founded in 1926. In 1933 the hotel leaseholder Paul Richard Ludwig bought the hotel.

From 1952 to 1966 the city of Limbach-Oberfrohna took over the hotel business. In the following years until 1990, the takeover and operation was in the hands of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district . In 1974 the building was expanded to include the existing hall and the hotel was separated from the cultural center.

In 2001, renovation and modernization work began on the building complex, in which 20 tons of steel were used and a usable area of 1500 m² was created. In addition, the glass foyer with the approximately 530 m² glass panes is a striking eye-catcher of the supplementary building. The Limbach-Oberfrohna town hall was reopened on January 16, 2004. Since then, it has served in the city center as a venue for concerts, dance balls, readings, company events, trade fairs and private celebrations. In 2018 the town hall was able to establish the Velo Urban Cross Challenge: Street battle as a bike race.
