Zehdenick town church
The Stadtkirche Zehdenick is a Protestant church in the town of Zehdenick . The associated church belongs to the parish of Upper Havel country of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .
history
The church was built around the year 1250 as stone block masonry. The lower part of the tower including the portal has been preserved from this period. The church is one of the oldest buildings in the city.
The church burned down several times, most recently during the great Zehdenick town fire in 1801. Its current design as a large hall structure goes back to the reconstruction in the years 1805 to 1812. The reconstruction was probably carried out according to plans by Ph. BF Berson .
The church is accessed through an ogival, double-tiered west portal in the basement of the tower. On the tower there is a square structure made of half-timbering , which is crowned by a tail hood .
The plastered nave has large arched windows. The sacristy is on the south side .
Furnishing
The interior is flat. A modernization took place between 1961 and 1967 and 1997. A gold-plated silver chalice from the beginning of the 14th century is noteworthy from the inventory. At the foot of the chalice there are relief medallions depicting scenes from the life of Christ . A similarly designed, somewhat older chalice is on loan from the Brandenburg Cathedral Museum .
organ
The organ was built in 1986/87 by the organ building company Fahlberg (Eberswalde) from the material of the previous organ from the 1890s. The instrument has 24 registers on two manuals and a pedal .
