Prachatice City Museum
The Prachatice City Museum ( Prachatické muzeum in Czech ) is a city and regional museum in the city of Prachatice . It is located on the large market square in the Sitter House ( Sitrův dům or Žďárských dům ), which was rebuilt in 1604 in the Renaissance style .
history
The museum was founded in 1904 as a municipal museum. In 1946 it was set up in the Sitter House.
Collections
After a total renovation of the building, the collections were redesigned after 1992. Numerous periods of time are illustrated by life-size figures. In addition to special exhibitions, there is a permanent exhibition for visitors on the following topics:
- History of the Goldener Steig trade route , with archaeological evidence
- Presentation of the town history of Prachatice and its guilds under changing local lords
- Golden age with the elevation to the "royal city" in 1609
- In 1611 Peter Wok von Rosenberg prevents the city from being plundered
- Exhibits on St. Johann Nepomuk Neumann (1811–1860)
- Imperial times with Mayor Johann Zdiarsky (1849–1907) in his study
- Reconstruction of the museum exhibition from 1904
- City history from the spa era to socialism after the Second World War.
In its depot the museum has a large collection of naive paintings and carvings .
