City silhouette of Burgau
The miniature city silhouette of Burgau , a town in the Swabian district of Günzburg ( Bavaria ), was created in the 1540s.
The city silhouette comes from the so-called Fugger'schen Ehrenwerk, which was commissioned by Jakob Fugger for the Habsburg dynasty. The mixed media drawing is given to the Augsburg painter Jörg Breu the Elder. Attributed to J. The work of honor is kept by the Bavarian Main State Archives under the code Cgm 896.
The miniature shows the most important buildings in Burgau: the nursing home, palace and parish church. Until the middle of the 15th century, Burgau was the main town of the Margraviate Burgau with the seat of the bailiffs and judges.
