The StWB Stadtwerke Brandenburg an der Havel GmbH & Co. KG are the municipal utilities of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel and offer services and products in the fields of natural gas , district heating and electricity . STWB is 51% owned by Technische Werke Brandenburg an der Havel GmbH , which in turn is owned by the city of Brandenburg, 36.75% by E.DIS AG ( Fürstenwalde / Spree ) and 12.25% by EMB Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH ( Potsdam ). In 2009, the company posted sales of 98.93 million euros (profit: 4.6 million euros). The commercial management is with Uwe Müller, the technical one with Gunter Haase. The company employs around 150 people. The chairman of the supervisory board is the Lord Mayor of Brandenburg, Steffen Scheller.

history

Stadtwerke Brandenburg GmbH was founded on January 27, 1995, but did not start operating until April 1, 1996. In June 1996 the foundation stone was laid for the cogeneration plant in Upstallstrasse, which went into operation six months later. Later the foundation stone was laid for the West heating plant on the ZF site .

On July 2nd, 2002 the foundation stone for the construction of the new master house of StWB was laid in the Upstallstraße. The master areas electricity, gas / heat and information technology are housed here. The inauguration took place at the end of January 2003.

Since August 30, 2003, there has been a joint StWB / BRAWAG customer center in the city center. Consumers receive all services relating to water, sewage, electricity, gas and heat from a single source. On December 18, 2005, STWB signed the purchase and assignment agreement with RWE AG , Essen, on the acquisition of the remaining stake in the municipal water and sewage company BRAWAG GmbH.

Thermal power station

There has been a power supply in Brandenburg an der Havel since the beginning of the 20th century. The first power plant in Havelstadt was built on the canal on Bauhofstrasse. It consisted of two direct current dynamo machines of 200 kilowatts each, two standing composite steam machines with a heating surface of 86.6 m² each. The power plant went into operation on October 26, 1901 and supplied 34 customers with a connected load of 65 kilowatts.

The district heating supply in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel began in October 1964 with the commissioning of the northern heating plant. Between 1972 and 1984 a total of five more heating plants were built to replace old heating plants or to replace the energy sources used.

On June 17, 1996 the foundation stone was laid for a new and innovative thermal power station. The construction time was fifteen months.

Coverage area

The supply area of ​​Stadtwerke Brandenburg is 167 km² (status: 2008). The number of consumer points supplied with electricity is 44,230 (as of December 2008), those with gas at 17,297 (as of December 2008).

Stadtwerke Brandenburg has been selling pure hydropower electricity nationwide under the enerline brand since 2009 .
