The Stafford River is a river in the southern Westland District in the West Coast region of New Zealand's South Island .
It rises in the Stafford Range east of Lake Ellery north of the McArthur Tops and flows north in a deep valley in the mountain range. It has several tributaries.
After about ten kilometers, it joins the Tasman Sea east of Jackson Bay at Stafford Bay .
