Stables (Dalmoak House)

The stables of Dalmoak House located on the lands of the Scottish Villa Dalmoak House south of the city Renton in the Council Area West Dunbartonshire . James Aitken , owner of the Rosebank whiskey distillery in Camelon , had Dalmoak House built as a country estate between 1866 and 1869. In the course of this, outbuildings were also built, which also include the stables. In 1980 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

The stables are just west of Dalmoak House. The masonry of the one-story, U-shaped building is made of roughly hewn sandstone . Along the south-east facade, five windows are almost evenly distributed, the reveals of which are bevelled. The gable of the gable roof is worked as a stepped gable . A pigeon tower rises on the gable side . A quarry stone wall delimits the inner courtyard between the gable ends of the south-east and north-west wings . The central gate is suspended from octagonal pillars. An entrance door on the gable end of the northwest wing leads into the building. Another door has a skylight . The gable is also worked as a stepped gable. In the inner courtyard, three segment arches lead into the interior of the building. There are several gable roof dormers in the attic . An enclosed garden borders in the west. The wall is made of quarry stone.
