Register sheet
A pedigree sheet is a special form of the originally exclusively by hand illustrated pedigree book , that especially since the mid-18th century among students was widespread. Fellow students and friends, but also professors from the university visited by the owner of the record book, entered sayings or quotes in the record book at his suggestion and as an expression of solidarity , sometimes including small sketches and, more rarely, more elaborate drawings.

The bookbinder and printer Johannes Carl Wiederhold (1743–1826), who worked in Göttingen , was the first to produce pre-printed pages in the register from 1770 . His copperplate engravings in landscape format soon found buyers and imitators in all German university towns. Views of cities, buildings or landscapes were shown, as well as literary or religious motifs and portraits of well-known personalities. Formerly produced bibliographic records in bound form were not generally replaced by the so-called "Stammbuchkassetten", a kind of slipcase , in which copper engravings or etchings were kept as loose-leaf collections towards the end of the 18th century .
The State and University Library had the end of 2017 around 60 such "family album" -Blattsammlungen in their possession.
