Standard Telephones and Cables

Standard Telephones and Cables (later just STC ) was a British company that manufactured telephones, telegraphs, radios and other related electronic devices. Throughout its history, invented and developed STC several groundbreaking milestones such as the pulse-code modulation and information transmission using optical fibers FO .

In 1984 STC took over the British company International Computers Limited (ICL), thereby buying up the last independent British manufacturer of general-purpose large computers. For its part, STC was bought in 1990 by the Northern Telecom group .
