Stanislav (Kiev)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stanislav ( Ukrainian Станіслав Іванович , Russian Станислав Иванович , baptismal name Terentios ( Терентий Terentij ); † after 1321) was Prince of Kiev in 1321 and Prince of Ryazan .

Historical mentions

Stanislaw was only mentioned in Polish chronicles (Maciej Stryjkowski, Athanasius Kalnofoysky ), not in Russian.

Life

Its origin is unclear. It is mostly assumed that he was a son of the Russian Prince Ivan from Putivl, like his predecessor Vladimir of Kiev . However, the first name Stanislaw ( Stanisław ) is Polish, a different origin is therefore also possible.

In 1321 Stanislaw was defeated and captured by troops of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in the Battle of the Irpen . From that time on, Kiev and the entire western Russian territory were part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . Stanislav fled to Bryansk .

Stanislav later became Prince of Ryazan . The year of his death is unknown.

Marriage and offspring

Stanislav married Olga, a daughter of Prince Ivan Yaroslavich of Ryazan. They had a son

  • Ivan, Prince of Ovruchsk.

Possibly

  • Fyodor, prince of Kiev around 1333–1362
