Starčevo ( Serbian Старчево), also Starčeva Gorica , is an almost 7 hectare island on the Montenegrin side of Lake Skadar . In the west of the island there is a monastery that was built around 1376/78. In addition to the monastery church, a single-nave basilica , there are outbuildings with a hostel, which today (unlike those on the lake islands of Beška and Moračnik ) is again managed.
In front of the church is the final resting place of the first printer of Slavic literature Božidar Vuković (* 1466 in Podgorica , † 1540 in Venice ), who was dug in his homeland according to his wishes.
