The Start Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . On the banks of the Bay of Isles , it marks the eastern limit of the entrance to Ample Bay .
Scientists of the British Discovery Investigations , who probably also carried out the naming, mapped it between 1929 and 1930. The further background of the naming is not known.
