State Parks in New Mexico

This is a list of state parks in the state of New Mexico . On August 31, 1933, Governor Arthur Seligman established the New Mexico State Park Commission. The New Deal employed 56,000 young men through the Civilian Conservation Corps . Since then, 34 state parks have sprung up, with over 4 million visitors annually. Between 2004 and 2008, under Governor Bill Richardson, government grants increased from $ 7.7 million to $ 12.8 million. In addition, volunteers in 2008 volunteered 307,500 hours, the equivalent of 4.1 million dollars saved or 147 full-time workers.
