State of Shock was originally supposed to be released as a duet with Freddie Mercury , the singer of Queen , but it was ultimately decided to record the "rock number" with Mick Jagger, the singer of the Stones . In addition, Mercury and Michael Jackson worked together from 1983 to 1984 on the albums Mr. Bad Guy (Mercury) and Victory (The Jacksons). Jagger later sang the song with Tina Turner at the Live Aid concert initiated by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in 1985.
