Niederhausen reservoir
The Niederhausen reservoir is a damming of the Nahe in the area of the local community Niederhausen in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The weir and the machine house are under monument protection. The water area with bank areas lies entirely within the Nahetal nature reserve from Boos to Niederhausen .
history
In the years 1926-1928, the hydropower plants Niederhausen GmbH established a very close to the village water plant . The weir , which consists of three fields near the former train station, accumulates the water so that the water flows to the power station in a 760 m long canal known as the Obergraben.
Until the 1990s, part of the Glantalbahn, which has since been dismantled, was used for transports to the power station.
During a longer period of frost, the reservoir can be opened for ice skating.
