Ste-Vierge is a Roman Catholic church in Conilhac-de-la-Montagne in the Aude department in France .

history

The church consecrated to the Blessed Virgin was built in the Romanesque style and probably dates back to the 12th century. It is believed to have originally served as the castle chapel of Conilhac Castle, which was first mentioned in 1165. The church was initially under the diocese of Alet and later became a branch of St-Étienne in Roquetaillade .

St-Vierge is a single nave church . The nave opens to the choir with a large triumphal arch, which, without a choir bay, merges directly into the semicircular apse in the east. At a later time, parts of the nave were separated and an intermediate ceiling was installed. This was reversed between 1881 and 1883.
