The Plug Herb beach Lilac ( Myriolimon ferulaceum ) is a plant type from the type of beach Lilac ( Limonium ) in the family of plumbaginaceae (Plumbaginaceae).
description
The seaweed sea lavender reaches stature heights of 10 to 20 cm. The stems are up to 1.5 mm thick, green, flexible and have reddish-brown scales at the base. The leaves are not developed during flowering.
Flower-bearing stems are regularly alternate, flowers only form in the upper parts. They are accompanied by 4 to 5 mm large scales, these are reddish and covered with a 1 to 2 mm long awn.
The inflorescences are composed club-shaped spikes , the spikelets consist of a single flower . The inner bracts are 4 to 5 mm long, cut off and surrounded by a large number of shorter, awning bracts. The calyx is surrounded by the inner bracts, is about 3 to 3.5 mm long and cylindrical. The crown is 5 to 6 mm long and pink.
Occurrence
The species occurs in the western and central Mediterranean region, as well as in central and southern Portugal .
Systematics
The species was first described by Carl von Linné as Statice ferulacea . It was then placed in the genus Limonium as Limonium ferulaceum (L.) Kuntze , but is now counted as Myriolimon ferulaceum (L.) Lledó, Erben & MB Crespo to the genus Myriolimon Lledó, Erben & MB Crespo .
