Steel Guitar Hall of Fame

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Steel Guitar Hall of Fame is an American hall of fame that honors important steel guitar musicians with the inclusion every year .

history

The idea of establishing a Steel Guitar Hall of Fame or an award for steel guitarists originally came from steel guitarist Jim Vest in Nashville , Tennessee in the early 1970s . Due to Vest's extensive work as a tour and session musician, however, he was unable to implement the idea. Therefore, Jim and DeWitt Scott founded the Hall of Fame in 1978 in St. Louis , Missouri , where it is still based today. In the same year the first three musicians were honored.

The goal of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame is, according to its own statement, to honor artists and to make their achievements unforgettable and to preserve the art of playing the steel guitar. Therefore, the Hall of Fame was recognized by the state of Missouri as a non-profit organization in 1984 and has officially been called the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, Inc.

The Steel Guitar Hall of Fame continues its idea today and has honored one or more artists with the inclusion every year since 1978. A museum with exhibits was also set up in St. Louis.
