Stefán Hörður Grímsson
Stefán Hörður Grímsson (born March 31, 1919 in Hafnarfjörður in Iceland , † September 18, 2002 in Reykjavík ) was an Icelandic writer who is one of the representatives of Icelandic modernism , the atomic poet .
Life
Stefan's parents were the carpenter and fisherman Grímur Gísli Jónsson and his wife Sigríður Stefánsdottir . He himself also earned part of his living as a fisherman in the Icelandic fishery. His first volume of poetry, Glugginn snýr í norður , was published in 1946. This book was followed in 1951, 1970 and 1981 by others. A volume with collected works was also published in 1979.
Stefán has received several artist grants. In 1990 he won the Icelandic Literature Prize, which was awarded for the first time . In 1992 he lived in Reykjavík on a grant from the Icelandic Literature Fund .
