Stefan Berger (politician, May 1969)

Stefan Berger (born May 3, 1969 ; resident in Linden ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ) and entrepreneur.

Life

Stefan Berger completed an apprenticeship as a metal science laboratory technician, later studying chemistry at the engineering school in Burgdorf , supplemented with further studies in medical technology and business administration. For the “Micro Dosing Unit for Bioreactors” project, Berger - together with Simon Zumbrunnen, Philipp Haslebacher and ReseaChem GmbH, a company co-founded by Berger - won the Ypsomed Prize 2015. He is the founder and co-owner of a company providing services in the fields of chemical analysis and synthesis and biotechnology.

Stefan Berger was a member of the Burgdorf City Council from 2004 and was a member of the Audit Committee from 2005, which he also chaired from 2013. From 2006 to 2011 he was parliamentary group president and 2012 city council president. He has been Mayor of Burgdorf since January 1, 2017 and has had a seat on the Grand Council , the legislature of the Canton of Bern, since September 2017 .

Stefan Berger is on the board of the SP Burgdorf and was president of the regional association SP-Emmental from 2009 to 2011. Since 2013 he has been a member of the national SP commissions for science, education and culture as well as economy and finance .
