Stefan Cybichowski (born August 2, 1881 in Poznan ; † January 6, 1940 there ) was a Polish architect . His symbolic grave is in a Poznan cemetery.

Stefan Cybichowski was born as the son of the grammar school teacher for philosophy and the Polish language, Bronislaus Cybichowski, and Marta Bischoff. In April 1882 he and his family were relocated to Inowrocław as part of the Kulturkampf . Five years later, in November 1887, another resettlement took place in Münster. In 1892 he returned to Inowrocław and finished secondary school there in 1901.

He studied architecture in Charlottenburg and received his diploma in 1905.

From 1907 to 1909 he worked as a lecturer in Berlin and worked a. a. participated in a project for a new synagogue in Charlottenburg. Back in Poland, Cybichowski opened his own architecture office in Poznan in December 1910 and participated in a large number of construction projects. From 1912 he was a member of the Technical Faculty of the Poznan Society of Friends of Science . From 1918 to 1939 he was able to build on his prestige as a renowned architect and held management positions in various state institutions.

In 1912 Cybichowski married Barbara Mieczkowska. Four children had emerged from this connection: Helene (born 1913), Irene (born 1916), Stanislaus (born 1918) and Katharina (born 1925).

death

On October 28, Cybichowski was arrested by the Gestapo as one of the highest earning and committed architects and imprisoned in Fort VII in Poznan . Three months later, on January 6, 1940, he was shot there. Cybichowski's family had no knowledge of his death and waited for his return even after the war had ended.
