Stefan Frechen

Stefan Frechen (born January 26, 1936 in Bonn ; † March 21, 2019 ) was a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and business school, Frechen worked in the insurance industry. He then studied economics and social sciences in Bonn, Cologne and Paris in order to then work as a state or local civil servant. After becoming a member of the state parliament, he worked in the finance ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia. He was responsible for cutting jobs in the context of task criticism , but remained an active civil servant himself beyond the age of 65.

Frechen had been a member of the SPD since 1971. He was active in numerous party bodies.

Frechen died in 2019 at the age of 83. A burial at sea is planned.

From May 30, 1985 to June 2, 1997 Frechen was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was elected directly in constituency 027 Rhein-Sieg-Kreis I. During the 12th electoral term, he resigned on June 2, 1997.

From 1975 to 2001 he was a member of the district council of the Rhein-Sieg district .
