Stefan Gieltowski (* 18th June 1954 in Bad Segeberg , Schleswig-Holstein ) is a SPD - politician and was Mayor of Rüsselsheim from 1999 by 2011.

Life

Stefan Gieltowski came to Bauschheim , a district of Rüsselsheim , at the age of 16 . After completing high school and military service, he studied law and journalism at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He put the focus of his law studies in the area of ​​administrative law.

In 1984 he moved into the Rüsselsheim city parliament for the first time, and in 1996 he became chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there. In 1999 he ran for the office of Lord Mayor for the first time and was elected to succeed Otti Geschka with 51% in the first ballot . On July 3, 2005, the Rüsselsheim Gieltowski elected with 64.5% in the first ballot for a further term. In August 2010, Stefan Gieltowski announced that he would no longer run for a further term as mayor.

Gieltowski is married for the second time and has two daughters from his first marriage.
