Stefan Tangermann

Stefan Tangermann (born December 24, 1943 in Eberswalde ) is a German agricultural economist, he was director at the OECD in Paris .

Live and act

After studying agricultural science and economics and a doctorate in economics at the University of Göttingen , Stefan Tangermann first taught and researched at the University of Frankfurt before he was appointed professor for agricultural market studies at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Göttingen in 1980. Tangermann made a name for himself by looking at agricultural policy from an economic perspective. He became a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. When he was appointed Director of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris in 2002, he was given leave of absence from the university. In 2006, its directorate was merged with that of international trade and Tangermann became the OECD director of international trade and agriculture. On February 20, 2009, he was retired during a ceremony in Göttingen.

Tangermann, who has been a member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen since 1994 , became President of the Academy in April 2012.

Stefan Tangermann is married and has 4 children.

In 2008 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
