Stefan Wetjow Watew ( Bulgarian Стефан Ветьов Ватев * 6. February 1866 in Lovech ; † 9. March 1946 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian doctor and anthropologist.

Life

Watew studied medicine in Leipzig . In Berlin he specialized in pediatrics from 1895 to 1897 .

He took over the chairmanship of the natural science-mathematical class of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences . He was also chairman of the Supreme Medical Council and, in 1901, was one of the founders of the Bulgarian Medical Association. In 1925 he founded the Association for Child Protection, of which he also became chairman. He also presided over the All-Slavic Association of Pediatric Societies.

Watew dealt with general and forensic medicine . The main focus was on anthropology , balneology , hygiene and pediatrics.

Watew also collected folk medicine materials and folk songs and fairy tales.
