Stefan Winkle

Stefan Winkle (born November 4, 1911 in Munkács , Austria-Hungary , † December 11, 2006 in Hamburg ) was a German physician and microbiologist . He was an epidemic hygienist at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, professor of hygiene and bacteriology at the University of Hamburg and the University of Jena, and head of the Hamburg Institute of Hygiene . Winkle wrote standard microbiological works and an encyclopedic work on the history of infectious diseases . In his biography of Johann Friedrich Struensee (1737–1772) he focused on his work as a doctor.
