Stefan Zierke (born December 5, 1970 in Prenzlau , Neubrandenburg district , GDR ) is a German tourism specialist and member of the German Bundestag ( SPD ). He is Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth in the Merkel IV cabinet .

Life

Stefan Zierke initially completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker in 1987 . After completing military service, there was further training as a travel agent and professional activity in this area. In 2003 he graduated as a tourism specialist; since 2004 he has worked as a managing director in the tourism industry.

politics

Zierke is a member of the Prenzlau city council and was parliamentary group chairman there from 2008 to 2014. Since 2014 he has been a member of the district council of the Uckermark district .

In the 2013 federal election , Zierke was given a seat in parliament on his party's state list . There he was represented in the Committee for Tourism as deputy tourism policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and in the Committee for Transport and Digital Infrastructure . In addition, Zierke is the spokesman for the Brandenburg SPD members of the Bundestag and, from 2015 to 2018, chairman of the Eastern regional group in the SPD parliamentary group . This is the amalgamation of 29 MPs from the East German federal states and thus the largest state group of the SPD parliamentary group after North Rhine-Westphalia.

Zierke is primarily concerned with the promotion of rural areas and is responsible for the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan for Eastern Germany.
