Stefano Rodotà
Stefano Rodotà (born May 30, 1933 in Cosenza ; † June 23, 2017 in Rome ) was an Italian lawyer, university professor, politician and author of numerous books of a non-legal nature.
Rodotà completed a law degree at La Sapienza University in Rome , which he completed in 1955 under the legal philosopher Emilio Betti . Rodotà later became a full professor of civil law at the same university . As a visiting professor, he has taught at numerous universities in Germany and abroad. a. from All Souls College Oxford, the Stanford School of Law and the Law Faculty of the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne . From 1979 to 1994 he was a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies , first as an independent candidate for the Communist Party of Italy , since 1983 for the list of Sinistra Indipendente and then for the PDS . In 1989 he was a justice minister in the shadow cabinet of Achille Occhetto erected. From April 30 to June 4, 1992, he was Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies. From 1997 to 2005 he was the first chairman of the newly established independent authority for data protection ( Garante per la protezione dei dati personali ).
In April 2013, the populist MoVimento 5 Stelle and later the ecological left party SEL ( Sinistra Ecologia Libertà ) pleaded for Rodotà in the upcoming election of a new Italian president (successor to the supposedly outgoing Giorgio Napolitano ).
