Stefano Sabelli (born January 13, 1993 in Rome ) is an Italian football player . The defender is currently under contract with Brescia Calcio .
Career
In the club
Sabelli began his career in 2005 in the youth department of AS Roma and went through this until 2012. In the same year he was taken over to the professional squad, but awarded to AS Bari to get match practice. In his first professional season, the 2012/13 season , Sabelli completed 29 games for the Galletti . Because of his good performance, Bari did not want to let Sabelli go and signed him for around 900,000 euros from the Roma . In the 2013/14 season Sabelli became an undisputed regular player and ran out in 37 of the 42 league games. Despite a point deduction of four points, Bari was able to qualify for the promotion play-offs . After FC Crotone was eliminated in the preliminary round , they were defeated by the US Latina due to the lower table placement. Sabelli was also used in all three play-off games.
Sabelli has been playing for FC Bari 1908 , the newly founded successor club of AS Bari, since the 2014/15 season . Due to insolvency proceedings, the association was auctioned off, which a consortium around the former referee and current president of the association, Gianluca Paparesta , acquired for around 4.8 million euros.
From January to June 2016 Sabelli was loaned out to FC Carpi . After the insolvency of FC Bari in summer 2018, he moved to Brescia Calcio .
In the national team
Sabelli was nominated for a junior selection of Italy for the first time in 2011: On February 14, 2011, he made his debut for the U-18 national team in a 2-0 victory over Norway . In the same year, three more missions followed for the U-18s, before he made his debut for the U-19 national team in a 2-1 win against Russia on August 25 . Until 2012 he played seven more games for the U-19s. On September 5, 2012 Sabelli played his first game for the U-20 national team in a 2-2 draw against Turkey , followed by seven more appearances by 2013. After Sabelli was called up by Devis Mangia for the U-21 national team in 2012 , he only made his debut for the Azzurrini in 2013 in a 3-1 win over Belgium on September 5, 2013. Since then, he has been a regular member of the selection under Luigi Di Biagio was able to qualify for the European Championship 2015 .
