Steigkirche

The Steigkirche on St. Luzisteig in the Bündner Herrschaft is a Protestant - Reformed church under the protection of monuments of the Canton of Graubünden . In the pre-Reformation period it was under the patronage of St. Lucius of Chur and was the mother church of Fläsch and Maienfeld until the end of the 15th century , when it was replaced in this function by the previous building of today's Amandus Church .

History and equipment

A church building was first mentioned in 831. It is difficult to date the structure of the walls of today's nave , which is covered with a hipped roof. The 11th century is mentioned at the earliest and the 14th at the latest. In 1457 the rectangular nave was extended by the choir in the late Gothic style. The murals were badly damaged in the Graubünden turmoil , so that only fragments have survived today, including a depiction of the epiphany of Jesus on Mary's lap . The murals were last restored in 1997.

Church organization

Within the Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden , St. Luzisteig belongs to the Maienfeld parish and thus to the Colloquium V Herrschaft - Fünf Dörfer .
