Stein Erik Lauvås (born May 3, 1965 in Porsgrunn ) is a Norwegian politician of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (Ap). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2013 .

Life

In the 1980s Lauvås worked as a laborer and later as a car mechanic in various positions. From 1994 he worked for the youth organization Arbeidernes Ungdomsfylking and the trade union umbrella organization Landsorganisasjonen i Norge (LO). From 1995 to 1998 he was the youth secretary of the LO. Between 1999 and 2001 he was Secretary General of the Norwegian Film Association Norsk Filmforbund . From 1991 to 1995 and again from 2003 to 2013 he was a member of the municipal parliament of the municipality of Marker . From 2003 he was the mayor of the municipality.

Lauvås entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2013 general election . There he represents the constituency of Østfold and he became a member of the local and administrative committee. He stayed there after the 2017 election , becoming second deputy chairman in March 2020.
