Stone cross at Rasch
The stone cross near Rasch is a historic stone cross near the district of the same name Rasch in the Middle Franconian town of Altdorf in the district of Nürnberger Land , Bavaria .

The stone cross is located about 750 meters northwest of Rasch and 800 meters south of Altdorf. It stands directly on an agricultural road south of the A3 .
description
The Latin atonement cross is made of sandstone and about 90 cm high, 75 cm wide and 30 cm deep. A small cross has been carved into the western side. The cross originally stood on the connecting road from Rasch to Altdorf, which was moved in the course of the construction of the A3. The cross was initially secured and later set up again. It was probably buried deeper in the process. According to Wittmann, it was originally 180 cm high. The cross is weathered and mossy. The arms are asymmetrical and have armrests on both sides. The cross also shows recent, minor damage to the foot.
The small monument was originally designated as an architectural monument (D-5-74-112-197) by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .
History and legend
According to the legend, a love nun from the nearby convent Gnadenberg in one of the grinding mill originating Müller fellows . One night the boy fled the monastery with the nun. But the burden became so heavy here on the mountain that he rested and fell asleep dead tired. When he woke up, the nun was gone. Because of the loss he became sick with longing and died at the place of the cross.
