Rock fights

The stone brawl was a typical handicraft in the wealthy northern Brandenburg and southern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The boulders , which can be found all over the landscape due to the Ice Age around 15,000 years ago, served as raw material . The mighty block packs at Althüttendorf and Sperlingsherberge were larger occurrences . The rock breakers cut the stones up to use them as building material for large stone graves, churches, city walls, cobblestone streets and houses.

The craft of stone cutting lives on in an artistic form, as granite sculpture.
