Roberto Mauro Cantoro (born September 1, 1976 in Ramos Mejìa , Argentina ) is a former Argentine- Polish football player . In addition to his Argentine and Italian citizenship, he has also had Polish citizenship since April 23, 2008. He played mostly in defensive midfield . His nickname is Toro . Jokingly, he was also called Maurycy Kantorski by his Polish team-mates and fans .

Club career

Cantoro played in his youth for the Argentine club Vélez Sársfield . There he also made his debut in the senior sector. During his time at Velez (until 2000) he was loaned out four times, including to Peru and Bolivia .

After a short engagement bet Atlético de Rafaela moved Cantoro for Europe to the Italian club Ascoli Calcio in the C series .

After half a year Cantoro moved to Wisła Krakow . There he made his debut on October 26, 2001 in the Ekstraklasa (the top division of Poland) and has since played 176 games in which he scored ten goals. With Wisła Krakau he was Polish champion in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009. From January 2010 he was under contract with the Polish first division club Odra Wodzisław , where he played 12 games in the Ekstraklasa.

In summer 2010, he returned to his native Argentina and played for Centro Juventud Antoniana in the Torneo Argentino A . After a year he moved on loan to Deportivo Morón in the Primera B Metropolitana . In early 2013 he moved to CD Pacífico FC in the Peruvian Primera División . There he played for various clubs until 2015 when he retired from his career.

National team

Mauro Cantoro played a few games for various youth national teams in Argentina. Thus, an already planned assignment in the Polish national team was blocked.
