from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The stone inscriptions and sculptures of the Medicine King Mountain or stone carvings of Yaowang Shan ( Chinese  药王山 石刻 , English Stone Inscriptions on Yaowang Mountain ) are stone inscriptions and stone carvings from the time of the Sui to Ming dynasties in the district of Yaozhou (the former Yao County ) of the city of Tongchuan in the Chinese province of Shaanxi . The oldest inscriptions go back to the time of the Northern Wei Dynasty .

The name of the mountain has something to do with Sun Simiao , the famous medic from the time of the Tang Dynasty. Sun Simiao (581–682), who was born in this area, is the author of famous scriptures such as Qianjin yaofang and Qianjin yifang , etc., and is known as "Yaowang" (medicine king).

The stone inscriptions can be found partly on steles, partly in the rock, the sculptures in grottos. Many texts have medical content.

The stone carvings of the Yaowang Shan ( Yaowangshan shike ) have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (1-128) since 1961 .

The Yaowangshan Temple (Yaowang Shan miao 药王山 庙) is also a listed building.
