The stone road is a road of Lübeck .

The approximately 50 meter long Steinstraße is located in the northeast of the old town island, in the Jakobi quarter . It branches off from the Wakenitz wall roughly halfway between Weitem Lohberg and Großer Gröpelgrube and penetrates as a stump-ending cul-de-sac into the center of building block no.9.

history

Steinstrasse occupies a special position among the streets of Lübeck's old town: It was only laid out in 1891 and had no older predecessors. At the point where the new street was laid in the interior of the block delimited by Wakenitzmauer, Weitem Lohberg, Großer Gröpelgrube and Langem Lohberg , there was not even a corridor or courtyard before. For the construction of the street, the house Wakenitzmauer 100 was demolished and the numbering was not adjusted, so that there is still no house number 100 on the Wakenitzmauer, but number 98 on the right of the Steinstrasse junction is followed by number 102 on the left. The street name is probably due to the building contractor JFE Steinfass.

The development dates from the time of the road system and consists of simple, neoclassical houses on both sides , built according to a uniform plan.
