Steinwartshügel
The Steinwartshügel (also: Kuhrain or Rossberg ) is a small hill on the eastern edge of the Amöneburg basin and immediately north of the village of Rüdigheim , which belongs to the city of Amöneburg . The main peak of the hill is 240.7 m above sea level. NHN high and rises around 35 meters above the village of Rüdigheim and around 100 meters north-west of the, although somewhat lower, but far better known Kreuzwart hill . The middle summit, on which there are also some larger boulders, is marked by a Marterl . The main summit of the Steinwartshügel, the "Mittelste Steinwartshügel" lies on the edge of a cattle pasture. The summit area itself is overgrown with bushes. The north-western slope to the rock ring is covered with tall forest. The secondary peaks are called "Hinterster Steinwartshügel" in the northeast and "Vorderster Steinhügel" in the southwest.
The ascent can be done via a short but steep path from the southwest through the mountain forest, which branches off at the end of the (upper) "Felsenring" road. An alternative ascent runs from the northeast via the path that leads to the Kreuzwarthügel.
Although it is not a formal stage point, the mountain is not far from two official hiking trails in the city of Amöneburg, the twelve-kilometer-long “Cross & Cross” geotour and, since 2016, the new, five-kilometer-long “Stock & Stone” geotour. The “Kreuz & Quer” hiking trail leads from the Kreuzwarthügel over the Brücker Mühle to the Schweinsberger Moor and back to Rüdigheim. Both paths pass less than 100 meters from the hill.
