Stella Duffy

Stella Duffy , OBE , (born March 2, 1963 in London ) is a British writer and theater maker.

Life

Stella Duffy grew up in New Zealand . She studied literature and theater at Victoria University of Wellington . She returned to London and lives in Lambeth with her wife, the playwright Shelley Silas . She has published (by 2016) fourteen novels, five detective novels from a “Saz Martin series”, a large number of stories and ten plays. The novels State of Happiness were nominated in 2004 and The Room of Lost Things in 2008 on the longlist of the Orange Prize .

In 2013 she founded the communication center “Fun Palaces”. In 2016 she was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her cultural activities .
