Stella Kleindienst

Stella Kleindienst-Schaaf (* May 12, 1950 as Stella Kleindienst ; † January 15, 2019 in Polling ) was a German opera singer ( soprano / mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Stella Kleindienst grew up in Bonn. She studied music and German in Bonn, Cologne and Hamburg. She then completed a vocal training at the Cologne University of Music a . a. with Josef Metternich . She then won the National Singing Competition in Berlin in 1978 and 1980 . Since 1981 she has been active as a soloist in operas and concerts. She had engagements at the Bremen Opera and the Stuttgart State Opera . On the latter stage she developed a broad repertoire - from lyrical to dramatic roles, from soprano to mezzo-soprano roles, from baroque opera to world premieres of contemporary works. Her roles include Waltraute in Die Walküre , Marzelline inFidelio (with Jonas Kaufmann at the Stuttgart Opera in 1998), Despina in Così fan tutte , Countess Almaviva and Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro , Tatjana in Eugen Onegin , Micaela in Carmen , composer in Ariadne auf Naxos , Hansel and Witch in Hansel and Gretel .

Guest performances led small service to music stages in Europe. She sang u. a. in Amsterdam, Geneva, London, Strasbourg and Vienna, in Essen, Munich, Hamburg, Mannheim and Berlin. The singer was also an interpreter of the song singing.

Stella Kleindienst had been married to director Johannes Schaaf since 1984 . She died on January 15, 2019.
