The stilts and Pieper (Motacillidae) are a bird family of the order of perching birds (Passeriformes), subordination songbirds (Passeres).
The actual stilts are slender and strongly drawn, have a slender beak, long legs and a long tail. The sexes are more or less clearly distinguishable. They nest on the ground, in rocks or crevices. Pipiters are brown-striped birds with white or white-striped tail edges that are less slender than stilts. Some have long claws on their back toes. The sexes are colored the same.
